Thursday, December 4th
This morning, following breakfast, we will depart from the hotel and drive to the famous Mount Kenya region, on our way to the popular Mt. Kenya Safari Club Hotel. The Mt. Kenya Safari Club is situated along the Equator line in a glory of luxurious cottages and elegant buildings set amid manicured lawns and decorative ponds. It is built in the heart of big game sanctuary and is renowned for it’s setting the magnificent views across the beautifully manicured lawn. It was found in 1959 by the late film star William Holden, and the club has over the years attracted many well-known members.
We will check-into the hotel and settle in before enjoying lunch at the hotel. Following lunch, we will board our motor coach and visit the Nanyuki Spinners and Weavers complex, to see the spinners at work. The Nanyuki Spinners & Weavers is a women's self help project registered under the ministry of Culture and Social Services started under the umbrella of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa on July 4th, 1977. Basically it was started with the main aim of training poor, widowed and single women living in the surrounding villages of Nanyuki in the craft of Spinning, Knitting and Weaving with the main objective of making them self reliant. Nanyuki was targeted because it is one of the major wool producing areas in Kenya with its weather being favorable for sheep rearing and raising. It was agreed from the beginning that half of the proceeds acquired would go directly to the women under the project and the other half would be retained at the center.
We will return back to our hotel later in the day, where we will enjoy a relaxing dinner together. Following dinner, Kaye will introduce us to “her” Africa by explaining some of the African fabric and designs she used in her book. Please note: Smart casual dress is required for dinner. B, L, D
Friday, December 5th
This morning, following breakfast, we will check out of our hotel and drive north to Samburu National Reserve. Our drive will take us through countryside villages, until we arrive at the Samburu Sopa Lodge. We will check into our hotel and enjoy a relaxing lunch together. Following lunch, the first of our game viewing drives begins. It’s time to see the animals!
Samburu, Buffalo Springs and Shaba National Reserves are three of the best animal game reserves in the entire region. Lying 225 miles from Nairobi, they are adjacent to each other, in effect forming an incredibly large area that makes up a total of 633 square miles.
During our game drive it is possible we may see wildlife species rarely found anywhere in the entire continent of Africa, including Grevys’ Zebra, the long-necked Gerenuk and the Reticulated Giraffe. As the area is so arid, the game is concentrated around the Ewaso Nyiro River which runs through the park, making game viewing particularly good. We will return back to our hotel later in the morning and enjoy lunch and dinner back at our hotel. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. B, L, D

Lake Nakuru is famous for its extreme numbers of flamingos, so abundant in some months that they seem to form a pink band along the lake shores. The park also offers a wide variety of other wildlife including giraffe, buffalo, waterbuck, lion, rhino and many other species. Be sure you don’t forget your cameras and video recorders! We will return back to our hotel for dinner and relaxing. B, L, D

Masai Mara Game Reserve is widely considered to be Africa's greatest reserve where the Masai community co-exists in harmony with the wildlife. This unique co-existence of man and wildlife makes this Masai land one of the worlds most unique wilderness regions. The Mara is home to a breathtaking array of life. The vast grassland plains are scattered with herds of Zebra, Giraffe, Gazelle, and Topi. The Acacia forests abound with Bird life and Monkeys. Elephants and Buffalo wallow in the wide Musiara Swamp. The Mara and Talek rivers brim with Hippos and Crocodiles. It’s animal overload, and we’ll see it all! B, L, D
