Itinerary:
Thursday, August 26th

This afternoon we will meet for a "Welcome Champaign Cocktail" as Jim West QuiltAway Program-San Francisco begins with an orientation meeting at our first-class hotel, located downtown. Jim will brief us on what we can look forward to on this QuiltAway, and talk to us about "Traveling with a Quilter’s Eye." He will introduce our very special guest celebrity, ALEX ANDERSON, who will also welcome our group and introduce a very special quilt project. Tonight we will enjoy a delicious "welcome dinner" and settle in for the evening. D

Friday, August 27th

This morning, following breakfast, we will enjoy a hands-on class with Alex. In the afternoon we will board our private motorcoach and a professional tour guide will provide for us a PANORAMIC TOUR OF SAN FRANCISCO. Besides driving past all the major sightseeing attractions the city has to offer, we will also visit some local textile factories and tour their facilities. We will also have an opportunity to shop at the world famous Fisherman’s Wharf, where we will also enjoy a delicious dinner at a restaurant located on the water. We will return to our hotel later in the evening, and the remainder of the night is at your leisure. B, D

Saturday, August 28th

This morning following breakfast, we will board our private motorcoach and shop in some very exciting quilt shops throughout the city. We will create our own "Shop Hop," going from one store to the other. This afternoon, we will visit the LACIS Lace and Textile Museum in Berkley, California. It will be a wonderful opportunity to see some of the most exquisite pieces of lace in North America. Following this visit, we will travel to CHINATOWN. We will see, hear, smell, taste, and feel the excitement this area of the city has to offer, and discover firsthand why it is famous around the world. There will be an opportunity to purchase all kinds of items, including silk fabric. Tonight, as a special treat, we will enjoy our "farewell dinner" high above the city, in a revolving restaurant that will allow us to take in views from all directions. It will be a perfect end to a glorious day. Both Jim and Alex will provide some parting words for our group. B, D

Sunday, August 29th

This morning following breakfast, we have arranged a late checkout of our hotel for our group. Jim will be on hand to answer any questions you might have, and also share some fun stories about his life as a cruise director, publisher & editor of the new Quiltposium Magazine and information about the $1000 PHOTO CONTEST that you can enter!
