McCalls Quilting Cruise-Caribbean style!

Hi quilters!

We are midway through our McCalls 2007 Caribbean cruise, and what a great time it has been so far. The weather, ports of call, quilt classes and group are all terrific!

We have Linda Fielder, Pat Sloan, Cindy Edgerton, Beth Hayes, Patricia Camp who are providing some incredible classes and instruction to our group.

The ship is beautiful, lots of really great things for the husbands to do while their wives sew.

The weather has been in the 80′s, clear, no rain and the waters calm.  So far, it’s been the perfect cruise.

Last night, before Pat Sloan gave her very informative and entertaining quilt presentation, I announced our McCalls Tuscany Italy trip for next year.  There are only 40 seats available on this tour and we already booked 12 people last night!  If any of you want a chance to go on this trip, please call our office very soon, because it is going to sell out for sure-right away like our China trip does!

I will keep you posted about the rest of our Caribbean Quilting Adventure in a couple days!

Gratzie and ciao!

TRAVEL INSURANCE

I just got off the telephone with this couple who had to cancel off of one of our trips………and because they didn’t take the travel insurance as we had recommended, they are going to loose everything they paid on the trip.

I don’t understand how people can pay thousands of dollars for a tour and not take the travel insurance when it’s offered to them.  You never know what is going to happen in life, so please, please, please take the insurance.  It’s a great protection investment on your vacation.

We can’t do any more than keep recommending it on our receipts and telling people about it when they make their deposit.

Believe me, the one time you DON’T take the insurance, that’s the time you will need it!  When I wrote my first book, “The Essential Little Cruise Book,” I wrote an entire chapter about the necessity of travel insurance.  In fact, Sir Edmund Hillary, who is a friend of mine and gave me his endorsement on the cover of my book, told me he thought it was one of the most important sections for people to read!

Just wanted to remind everyone about this since I now have two unhappy travelers who are kicking themselves for not getting it to begin with, and if you can believe it, they are actually rude and obnoxious with me because they didn’t act responsibly! But maybe that’s their nature to begin with.

Some people just don’t get it, and I suppose they will never get it, and so they will reap what they sew as my grandma used to say. :)

QUILTING IN ITALY

I have just returned from a wonderful Italy trip!  I was there with a small group of friends and some of my agents, to experience the Italy tours we have designed for quilters.

It was fantastic!!!!

Next month Charlotte Angotti is taking our first group of quilters to Tuscany, and it is going to be a trip of a lifetime for sure. If you happen to be one of the lucky ones who signed up before it sold out, then you are in store for one heck of a great time.

If you are not, you might consider coming with us next year with McCalls Quilting Magazine in May, 2008.  We haven’t made a formal announcement about this trip yet, but if you want a flyer when it is completed, I’ll send one out to you before it’s printed in their magazine.

McCalls trips ALWAYS sell out within a month after being announced, and because we are really limited with the space on their trip (just one bus of 45 people), it will sell out within the week, I’m sure of it.

Some of the highlights include:  A visit to a working Tuscany winery, cooking class with a real Italian grandma, sightseeing in extraordinary places throughout Tuscany, first-class hotels, great tour guides, visits to famous basilica’s including St. Peter’s in Rome, a visit to a museum in Florence to see the oldest quilt in the world, cosmotti floor designs that have inspired quilts for hundreds of years, and so on and so on.

I’ll be posting photographs and a short video on our website when we return this March with Charlotte’s group, so be sure you are watching for that.

In the meantime, contact me at Jim@SewManyPlaces.com if you want a flyer when everything is finalized with the McCalls Tuscany trip for next year.

Until then, Gratzie and Ciao!
